Nothing brings more comfort than food during the Christmas season, so Spectrum has decided to taste-test some Christmas treats that might add some holiday cheer to your day. To save some time and take the burden off your pockets, read on to hear our recommendations on some tasty Christmas treats you can get around the Upper West Side.

$: Make My Cake

775 Columbus Avenue

“Sugar Cookie with Sprinkles”

$1.00

Tester 1:

“Way too salty for me. It’s also super hard and crumbles as soon as you bite into it. Not a big fan.”

Rating: 2/5

Tester 2:

“It’s exactly what a sugar cookie should taste like. Loved the festive little sprinkles on top. Definitely worth the price.”

Rating: 5/5

$: Whole Foods

808 Columbus Avenue

“Petit Four”

$2.00

Tester 1:

“Cream isn’t too sweet, which I like. Love the white chocolate. It’s a good cake, just not festive except for the Christmas tree on top of it. Good though.”

Rating: 3/5

Tester 2:

“It was kind of dry, but I think that’s because I put it in the fridge before. The taste was fine. Nothing incredible.”

Rating: 4/5

$$: Morton Williams

2941 Broadway

“Box of 26 Gingerbread Cookies with Chocolate Bottom”

$4.99

Taster 1:

“By far the best so far. The cinnamon is not too strong, which I like, and the chocolate makes this just a hundred times better. Plus, you get a bunch of gingerbread men, so it’s totally worth the price for me.”

Rating: 5/5

Taster 2:

“Pretty simple for me. Not incredible, but I enjoyed it. The chocolate is a nice touch. It’s also nice that there are so many in the box: you can definitely share this with a bunch of friends.”

Rating: 4/5

$$$: Milk Bar

561 Columbus Avenue

“Peppermint Bark Milkquake”

$9.80

Tester 1:

“If it weren’t for the little peppermint bits inside, the milkshake wouldn’t taste like peppermint at all. Also, not a fan of the chocolate peppermint mix, but that’s a personal opinion. ... Overall, definitely enjoyed the complimentary candy cane more than the actual milkshake.”

Rating: 1/5

Tester 2:

“Really don’t like the texture at all. Doesn’t feel like I’m drinking a milkshake. The candy cane pieces inside don’t do it for me. I usually love peppermint, but this isn’t something I’ll ever order again. Not worth it.”

Rating: 1/5

$$$: Baked By Melissa

2325 Broadway

“Box of 6: 2 White Chocolate Pretzel Cupcakes , 2 Chocolate Caramel Cookie Dough, Cupcakes, 2 Sugar Cookie Macarons”

$12.00

Taster 1:

“SO good. All three were really tasty. Don’t get how it’s bite-sized, though. You really don’t get to appreciate the flavor. If they were a bit bigger, then I’d say they’re definitely worth the price. They would be perfect if they weren’t so expensive.”

Rating: 3/5

Taster 2:

“Yeah they were good, but just so small. I don’t get it.”

Rating: 2/5

Based on all of the data gathered and the opinions of our two tasters, we can conclude that you should definitely be going to Morton Williams to stock up on some gingerbread cookies—they’re worth leaving Butler for during this upcoming finals season.
